GRAND RAPIDS, MI – On Wednesday morning, 77 men and women from 35 countries took their Oath of Allegiance before a federal judge and became permanent residents of the United States.
The Hon. Scott W. Dales presided over the Naturalization Oath Ceremony Wednesday at the Catholic Diocese of Grand Rapids Cathedral Square Center. The ceremony is the final step in the process of becoming a United States citizen.
"I always find it kind of inspiring," Dales said. "It is a big thing for people to step into a new country and feel a certain excitement. You're no different than you were before, in some respects, but in others, you're completely different.
