Latino Advocacy Coalition receives grant

HENDERSONVILLE – Adult literacy is the goal of a $25,000 North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation Ribbon of Hope Grant to the Latino Advocacy Coalition in Henderson County.

The Latino Advocacy Coalition will use the grant to offer adult literacy classes.
The Latino community center known as El Centro, through various partnerships with area organizations offers instruction in English as a Second Language, General Education Diplomas and financial and digital literacy.

LAC, based in Hendersonville, is one of 32 nonprofit organizations to receive $25,000 grants from the North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation in 2008 under its new Ribbon of Hope program.
