Courier-Journal.com: Kentucky’s Roman Catholic bishops have weighed in on the national debate over illegal immigration, calling for humane treatment of immigrants and policies that would allow them to gain legal status.
“We respect the right of nations to enforce their borders and to enforce reasonable immigration laws,” said the statement to be formally released Tuesday by the Catholic Conference of Kentucky, the lobbying arm of the state’s four bishops.
“At the same time, we regard every person, illegal immigrant, legal immigrant, or citizen, with the mind of Christ: a human person worthy of dignity and respect,” the bishops said.
The statement is being released to coincide with a congressional field hearing on immigration scheduled for Tuesday in Evansville, Ind.

I agree 100%. The illegal immigrants that we currently have living in this country need to be treated with the respect they deserve.
Feed them, make sure they are fit, and send them back to their home country.
Of course... then you have the situation as happened in Texas recently where an illegal immigrant was captured by a county sheriff, and determined to have gangrene in his arm. Since the law prevented his turnover to US immigrations unless he was in good health, that Sheriff's department had to use up it's entire "health" budget for the year to get this one person healthy enough for transfer to federal authorites and deportation.
If we are going to provide aid and comfort, than somebody, whether it is the church, the Mexican Government, other foreign governments, La Raza, etc... MUST step forward and pay the bills.
